Kipawa Services to Volunteers

Kipawa Youth Volunteer offer the below underlined services for volunteer youths to participate in,the services are offered to volunteers to make their staying easy and exciting.

1.Airport Pick-ups

A representative from KIPAWA, together with a representative of Victory Adventure & Tours, will meet you at the Moi International airport. They will bring you to downtown Mombasa, where our hostel accommodation for volunteers is situated. You will have to pay around $50 for Transfer.

2.Accomodation.
We work in rural areas of the country, covering many provinces in Kenya:i.e Western, coast and Nairobi Province. Living accommodation therefore depends on where one has chosen to go.

a). Accomodation in western Province.
In the Western province, we cover the two districts of Bungoma & Mumias Many families in these areas live in houses made of mud with straw roofs. The floors are made of a mixture of cow manure and water, which is spread smoothly over the surface of the ground by hand. Don’t worry; they only smell for a day and after that, things are okay! In fact, the way these homes are made is incredibly practical for the climate they are situated in. The straw roofs provide for cool shade from the hot sun in the summer months and are totally waterproof for protection in the rainy season. We also have cement houses with tin roofs and mud houses with iron roofs available. It is entirely the personal choice of the volunteer as to where they would prefer to stay. If you would like to experience the typical living conditions of rural African life, we recommend staying in the straw roofed mud houses. Most of our rural homesteads don’t have electricity or running water, but if you bring chargeable equipment (Ipods, CD players etc), our workers are able to do the charging in the nearby town centre.

b).Accommodation in Nairobi Province
Volunteers wishing to serve in Nairobi will be accommodated in our hostels. You will be entitled to 3 meals a day, and you shall also have a KIPAWA worker always on hand to help you get to grips with the city and advise you on the dos and don'ts of Nairobi life.
3.Communications.

Those interested to learn our cultural programmes are encouraged to participate. Those intending to learn Kiswahili plus other local languages before joining the communities are encouraged to come and attend the classes.

4.Leisure Travel.

If you have extra days built into your schedule while in Kenya, there are many things to see and do. You can go for a safari in the Maasai Mara, TSAVO National park, Lamu historical sites Malindi Vasco da Gama pillar and the butterfly farm amongst many.
